Why is marriage called "wedlock"?

Wedd is. an Anglo-Saxon word meaning "to gamble," and for them, marriage is a great gamble. In the old days, brides were bartered by thier fathers. They can be exchange for either property or cash.  A young woman would have been bought and sold for breeding purposes. The final deal is done thru a wedlock ritual called a wedding.

2 "Turtle Doves" symbolizes the Old and New Testaments.

3 "French Hens" symbolizes Faith, Hope and Charity, the Theological Virtues

4 "Calling Birds" symbolizes the Four Gospels and/or the Four Evangelists
