Why food service house called "restaurant"?


The word "restaurant" came from the french word for "energy booster or energy restorer". Long time ago in France there is a caterer of soup. The first restaurant only serves soup at that time. Many believed that soup restores the energy of their customers.

What is "Draconian" word means?


In ancient Greece, a legislator named Draco wrote a very strict rule on the Greece constitution.
It generally states that a small offense or violation of law can have severe and heavy punishment. Today the word "draconian" could mean also mean a type of computer operating system policy that is very strong and isolating.

Where the word "salary" came from?


The ancient Romans paid the soldiers with salt allowance. During those times, salt were very valuable substance. Salt has many uses. It can be used as food seasoning. It can be used as preservatives. It also has healing property. The word salary rooted from the "salt allowance" given to Roman soldier or ordinary worker on that time. Now, this compensation for labor became the word "salary".
